Hi Terry. If I know what chapter and verse I want, I use the find command -- space with f on the Bt keyboard and read with f (I think) on the qt. Then I enter the chapter and verse numbers.
However, my were in brf format and the numbers were clearly defined. I'm not sure about the text versions. If the numbers are there, you should check too see how they're set out. For example, in my version, in some books they change, depending on who put together the original. In some books, they appear as chapter number, colon, verse number, so if I was looking for Isaiah Chapter 53 verse 10, I would first locate the book of Isaiah, which, on mine is easy because each book is a separate file, open it, do my find command and enter number sign 53 colon 10. In other books, , the chapter and verse numbers only appear that way at the beginning of the chapters. In that case, when I o my search, I do the same thing, but enter t he number one as the verse number. Then I do another search, say for verse 12 by simply entering number sign 12 in the search field. The most frustrating thing is when neither of these works because a verse number always appears on its own without the chapter number and a colon before it. In that instance, you might have to enter the words "chapter 5" or the book name followed by the chapter number. Your Bible should give you clues as to what to put in the search fills in regards to how the chapter and verse numbers are written out. Perhaps you may have to use a dash instead of a colon. I hope this hasn't been too confusing and that you have some joy with it. God bless! I have the Bible in text files for each book. But, is there a way to locate particular places in a book by chapter and verse etc? So far, the only way I've found is by a word in a certain verse.
