I'd stop it and use the computer for unzipping anything that large.

I was sent an etext that was about er is about a meg in size.  Or
more, I can't remember.  Anyhhow, it was zipped up., so I did the
usual thing--renamed the extension to .bks.  I started the unpack
process around 3:30.  It's now 5:50 and it still says it's
unpacking.  Curiously, nothing else is locked, it just is still
working on this book.

Do I need to terminate the process, rename the extension to .zip and
put it nmy other computer, unzip it and put it  ackon the BN, or
should I just kieep on waiting at this point?

I've got a BrailleNote Classic with KS7.
