Hello Andy!
Thanks for the explanation on how the 2-piece adapter works.
Now, if I go to a foreign country, I will need to get some sort
of adapter to plug the charger in to an outlet because the cord
that goes in to the wall has a standard plug for the u.s.
Thans and take care.

Subject: [Braillenote] 2-piece AC adapter
Hi Brian,
The 2 piece AC adapter uses a Switched-Mode Power Supply, and my
one
here says 100 to 240V input.
these power supplies work in a clever way that basically involves
switching on and off very, very quickly, in order to get the
right
output voltage. Since the mains voltage is going up and down 50
or 60
times a second, if you switch at the right part of that cycle,
for the
right amount of time, you can get pretty much any output voltage
you
need. This is all done automatically, so you can plug it in
anywhere
and get your 12V output without having to worry about exploding
BrailleNotes!
On the down side, because they switch on and off very fast, they
can
produce annoying noise, especially when plugged in next to old
hi-fi
equipment - like mine, for instance!
regards,
Andy.
