Oh, now you've done it. <smiling> In a public speaking class, I was giving
a speech and someone asked me to explain my little computer thing. I put
most of the class to sleep as I talked for twenty minutes, just scratching
the surface of the BN. But here goes:
From Main Menu, press I. KeySoft prompts: "KeyWeb Menu". You now
have two options:
Web Browser (which works like the Internet option from the Main Menu in
previous KeySoft versions) or
Instant Messenger. The KeyChat menu looks like this:
Send a message (select a contact and write your message. You can type back
and forth and even add more people to the conversation, or include them if
they IM you while you are chatting to someone else).
Manage Contacts: your KeyChat contacts are stored in your address list, so
you can just add a screen name to the entry of anyone you already have
saved. You can also enter a common name into the "Group" field. Select a
contact by any of the fields in the Address List. Multiple selections are
supported (you can select everyone in the "family" group, for example.)
Start a voice chat (v): as implied, this allows you to select a contact
and chat using the BN's built-in microphone or an external one.
File Transfer: send a file or group of files to a contact, whether the
one(s) to whom you are currently talking or to another.
Contact Status: see all your contacts in a list with their statuses.
Pressing ENTER on a contact will run whichever option you define in the
KeyChat options, or you can select from a list of options by pressing
BACKSPACE+O.
OptionsSet up Options (o): common to all KeySoft applications, this
submenu allows you to set up things like your screenname, your name as it
appears to those with whom you chat, whethere the microphone remains on or
if it only activates when the Record button is held in, how messages are
handled outside of KeyChat, and so on.
There, my basic idea. It needs refining, but it seems as though it would
work. Some issues, such as the hotkey, would need to be worked out,
though. Also, it would be great if a program like Miranda IM were
implemented, allowing access to multiple chat clients--AOL, MSN, Skype,
and the others that I cannot think of.

it is not too late, I recommend that KeyWeb get its own menu in

media player did in KS6.2. The Internet hotkey would still give

"address?" prompt, but entering the web browser from the Main
Menu gives you
the "KeyWeb Menu". From here you can select either "Web Browser"
or "Instant
Messenger". I have the KeyChat menu all planned out, too, but I
do not think
anyone cares to hear about all that.)

I got the CE info from a friend who was reading it off the web,
so maybe he
misspoke or something. I am hoping that we have not seen 5.x for
the BN
because HW is going to give us 6.x or better in KS 8 or 9.

which, is there any news on KS8.x yet?

If you create a network with domain configuration, yes, it will
allow you to
setup your PC as a server. Actually, Windows CE 5.0 does support
up to 32000
processes.

That V-mPower: is that something you have heard about? It would
not surprise
me--Windows CE 6 is coming out in several months and will support
up to 2 GB
of RAM, and CE 7 (late next year or the year after) will support
not the
current 32 processes at once, but 32,000 processes at once. That
and all the
new technology (the 30 nanometer flash that will allow for a 64
GB CF card)
will almost certainly prompt a new BN, or at the very least a new
motherboard.

The computer is set up as a \ \ lenovo \ . If I type lenovo into
the "
network server: " prompt, it access it that way.
Yesterday I was at barns and noble, they have high speed there,
and I
tried connecting to that, and sometimes it worked, and other
times it
did not. It's deffinetly not with the bn's card slot as someone
mention, though. I have a cf card and that works great with the
braillenote. The other problem is that the school brought this
card,
and I hope they understand this. I will be relying on this card
for a
long time, at least for my four years of high school ( yep, I'm a
freshman ) . Well maybe by then the braillenote vm power will
come
out. Very mobile power .
