Forget that. I'm glad you clarified that Richard.

Cheers!

Actually, what I have seen is that, through of speech recognition
software, some voice recorders can turn speech into text. What this
means is that the voice recorder is attached to a PC, and the recording
is "listened" to by speech recognition software such as Dragon Naturally
Speaking and subsequently a text file of the recording is created. There
is some kind of speech recognition software available for the Pocket PC
market, but in its current form, it wouldn't run on a Braillenote. This
doesn't mean that such software couldn't be designed for the
Braillenote, but it does mean that such software would truly tax the
available processor/memory resources that Braillenotes provide. Speech
recognition is not perfect, far from it. Such software often makes
mistakes, and therefore even assuming that Humanware's developers could
work with the resources they have and come up with speech recognition
software that would run on the Braillenote, the results one might expect
to achieve from voice recordings would likely not be all that fantastic.

What digital recorders turn recorded speech into text?

Hi listers and HumanWare staff.

Wouldn't it be great in a future upgrade to make the recording feature
be able to translate the sound recording into text wherever possible,
like some of the digital recorders can? This way, one would not have to
take notes at the same time and it would save those of us who want to
buy digital recorders a bit of money which we could put towards either
other technology or every-day expenses.

What do people think? Would this be possible?

Cheers!

Michele

Cindy,
Yes, it si possible. Bare in mind to check on the space on the disk that
you are recording to because if you keep recording, you'll eventualy
fill the free space.

Can you multi-task while recording? ie can I take notes in Keyword and
record at the same time?

Cindy
