For all of you c the loss of sound on your PK, I have only found one fix without doing a re-set that works some of the time. If you are in KeyWord, for example, and speech just stops for no apparent reason, try hitting the hot key to jump to another program like, backspace plus enter plus a to jump to Keylist. Then, for me, often speech comes back, then I hit backspace plus enter plus w to get back to my document and all works well.
I have no idea why this works, but it often does.
If it doesn't, then the c3c4 re-set works, but it is rather annoying when that happens. I've had a PK since they first came out almost two years ago now. This behavior isn't very frequent for me, and I use it every day. I would say if it is happening multiple times a day, you would want to talk to Tech Support.

Best of luck,
Richard Turner

Sharon and all,
I have had this very same thing happen and I, too, have only had my PK for a
week. In my case, the PK was almost fully charged and the speech was just
abruptly gone -- twice now. I finally reset with the dots 1-2-3 held down.
Can someone tell us if this is a common PK behavior? Or is there something
else to do to avoid its occuring again?
Thanks,
Deborah

Subject: [Braillenote] Losing ssound on the PK

Hi, I have a PK running 7.0. I have only had it five days and I have lost
speech twice today. Both times I was editing a document using only speech,
it just happened to me now and the battery level is over 70%. When I have
lost speech I have been able to get the Braille working so have been still
able to do things. I have gone to the Media player and tried to play a song
that I know works but have gotten no sound from it. The Braille display
shows that the song is playing but there is nothing coming out of the
speaker. This also happened to me yesterday when I tried to turn on speech
after using Braille for awhile.

Things I have tried with no success is to turn off the machine and turn it
back on again, turn the speech off and on a few times. The thing that worked
is to turn off the machine using c1 and c4 and then turn it back on.

Does anyone know what might be going on? Do I need to contact my local
dealer on Tuesday (because Monday is a holiday here) and send it back?

Thanks for any help,
>From Shaz.
