Hi Again,

I did delete the five files that were easy to recognize once I used read with x to show hidden files. In fact, I had already thought of doing that. There is still the mistery in my mind, though. The book reader saw those files by a different name altogether. What was that? Where did that ghostly file live and where did it go?

Yes, I believe I will always remember to put such books in their own folder. I missed that little detail in my reading. Question, though. Could the book reader prompt for that when the book is unpacked? That would save a big headache.

Thanks again for the excellent help from this list. ,

Joleen

The problem with this approach is that if you have any of your
other user files in the general folder, you will loose them as well.

I'd go into the file manager and erase each of the files
belonging to the book individuallly. There are probably 5 or 6 of them.

Be sure you set the file list to view all files including hidden,
and only erase those with filenames you do not recognize so as not to delete any of your other
user files in the general folder.

It's always a good idea to unpack a daisy book into it's own
folder so you can just delete that folder when you are through with the book.

Joleen, go ahead and delete your general folder. When you get to
it, just go ahead and press Ctrl I. Do a reset with no keys held
down. Your General folder will be recreated. You will have to
say "yes" to erase the protected files.

Subject: [Braillenote] Daisy Book Help

Hi All,

I may have gotten myself into a bit of trouble here.

I went to Bookshare and decided to download my first Daisy book,
the Oregonian for today. It downloaded into my downloads folder.
When unpacking it, I downloaded it to my General folder on my
flash disk as an experiment. I know now that that was a bad
idea. There was room enough for it, though, but I have looked at
it and now want it off of there.

It is indeed a spirious book. When opening it in the book
reader, the title is Oregonian 10/09/06. It seems to be a hidden
book otherwise. When in the folder manager, I can choose erase.
Then I am given a series of files that are its sub files. If I
look for it with option "D" I can find "Oregonian 10/09/06. One
of my choices should be to delete it by pressing control with I.
Well, I get the message about deleting the folder and all of its
files. Thinking it may be a folder with the books inside it, I
choose to continue. Then it tells me that the embosser test A
file is protected. EEKS! It is trying to delete the whole
general folder, or so it seems.

How do I get rid of it?

Shall I delete the individual books that show up when I choose
the erase option from the file menu? Then, where is that overall
title hiding? How should I delete it?

If this makes any sense at all, please help!

I have studied the help for this and come up with a big
questionmark.
