In the system devices, printer and lp ports I am getting lots of bluetooth ports and they are called serial ports; they are called as in, jaws reads them as bluetooth serial port.

Is the com4 port Bluetooth or is it serial? (I don't myself know if a previous version of JAWS will drive a braille display by Bluetooth.) ----- Original Message ----- From: Taraprakash

 Floor.
I am getting comp 4 as one of the bluetooth serial ports. There won't be any
need to work with the INI file. Only if these two guys were ready to
recognise each other and then get paired.
I don't have any other bluetooth device to check if the fault is with
 bluetooth in my BN unit.

His choices are: If using JAWS7.0 download 7.10; or, in any case, he can
indeed edit the jfw.ini file. However, it's necessary first to install the
brailleNote on one of the recognised com ports, even if it's not connected
thereto. Then that com port number (for the brailleNote) may be changed in
jfw.ini. (I've done it before, so I know. JAWS thereafter will work with
the BrailleNote device set to com port 8, or whichever.) Now if only my
last computer could have waited until I'd installed JAWS7.10 before dying!

   tara and list
the range of bluetooth is about :was ft of,"
   mwith follow these stpeswh
1 from anywhere in keysoft go to
   options/connectivitystbluetooth when the
   prompt is displayed select yes
be after few moments bluetooth manager will
present the list of bluetooth devices that
are in range notewh be sure to note the exact
name that you've given to your computer press
   enter on the device
con bluetooth manager then will present the
list of services that it offers be sure to
select services like modem or activesync then
keysoft will prompt you for teh
   authentification code ofsee note 1with
dis type the authentification code on your
braillenote after few moments your laptop
will popup and prompt you to enter the
authentification code type the exact code
that you've typed ofsee note 1with after few
seconds keysoft will announce that it is
   paired and active
en noe press jaws keyingf. to shut down jaws
   press enter on the dialog
to now on your braillenote go to main menu
and select terminal for screen reader at the
   port prompt select bluetooth
( on your laptop press windowsingr then type
jaws) without spaces then the display will
present what is displayed on the screen

   noteswh
note 1which in bluetooth communication an
authentification code is a password that
allows two bluetooth devices to talk to each
other if we put the scenario in the dialog
   form here's what you'll seewh
braillenotewh hi my name is braillenote
computerwh mty name is laptop nice to meet
   you
braillenotewh i've heard that you wanted to
   share something with me
   computerwh yes i am
braillenotewh but i'm not sure whether you
are the intended computer that i want to talk
to i need a proof i'll give you a code and if
you give me the exact code that i gave you
   then we can talk further
computerwh okay send it to me
if the connection was successful the result
   will bewh
   computerwh there
   braillenotewh thanks
if it fails the result will bewh
   computerwh there
braillenotewh i'm sorry but it seems that one
of your letters does not match sorry but i
cannot talk to you right now
computerwh that's okay maybe next time
that's how the authentification code works

my answer to your original questionwh there
is a file called jfwini that controls how
jaws behaves at startup do not edit it
yourself the the the information that you
are looking for is the port number
which you can change it to comff
i hope this information may help you
