Hi Joleen:

I have a quick and easy solution for you. Go to the very bottom of your document and insert a page brake. That's a chord p on my Braille Note PK. I suspect it's the same command on what ever you are using. That will cause there to be a blank page between each copy, but it should solve your problem.

Hi Cindy,

Since I am using the only option left to me, the serial port, I get everything ready and then turn off the Blazer to initialize it and dump its buffer of any exteraneous characters before embossing. The first copy goes perfectly. This indicates that the initial process is without problems.

The problems come when I try to emboss a second or third or ... copy either by responding to "Number of copies" with a number higher than 1 or by going through the steps to emboss another copy. This is when the "7" appears at the right, top of my document. After the first page, it does not put any page numbers until it gets to the top of the next copy. There, at page 1, I will have another "7" unless I turn the Blazer off and on again.

I am suspecting it is a problem with the serial port transfer.

I will soon see when I start making copies of a shorter document. The mistery will be, will I get a "7" or some other number.

Another person suggested that there may be too many lines at the bottom of my document. In my case, the "7" does not have its own blank page, it shares with the first page of the second or third or ... copy of the document.

Strange,

Joleen

Okay, why are you turning the Blazer off then on? Even if you
need to do
this process for the embosser itself, you should probably turn it
on before
even going into Keyword.

Just a suggestion,
Cindy

Hi Joseph and All,

Perhaps I did not make that point clear in my first message. Just
to make sure, I decided to try embossing again after the most
recent copy had completely finished and all was quiet. I went to
the Keyword Options menu and chose emboss. I went through the
steps to choose the same document and pressed "Y" at the
"Embosser Ready" prompt. Again, there appeared the "7" at the
top right corner of my document.

Joleen,
You must wait until the complete message is
displayed BEFORE you emboss the second
document.

Subject: [Braillenote] Embossing BN file on
Blazer Serial Port Odd Thing

Hi All,

I am embossing a six-page document that has
been formatted as a
brf document using the Blazer connected to
the BN by means of
the serial port. The document is complete
with page numbers and
appropriate spacing. Here are my steps:
1. Insert paper in Blazer with paper
positioned ready to go.
2. Turn off blazer.
3. Find the file on the BN, open it and
close it.
4. Choose emboss at the Keyword options
menu.
5. Turn on Blazer
6. Choose "y" to emboss a single copy.
7. Repeat steps 4-6 to emboss a second copy
of the document.

Here comes the mistery! If I either choose
to emboss one copy
and then immediately emboss a second copy, or
I choose to emboss
two or 3 copies at once, there appears a "7"
at the top right
corner of the first page of the second
document and third
document. I have not chosen to emboss more
than 3 copies without
turning off the Blazer, but I will now assume
that a "7" would
appear at the top, right corner of each copy
after the first
copy. From then on there are no page numbers
except for those
that are embedded in the document already. I
have checked the
Layout list on the BN and "Page Numbering" is
set to "No."
I can keep this from happening if I turn the
blazer off and then
on again after embossing a single copy of the
document.

I have seen a serial port connection put
extra dots at the top of
a document if its buffer is not emptied
before starting
embossing. That is why I turn it off.
However, it seems "smart"
to put a "7" after page "6". Then, why does
it not continue the
numbering. Better that it does not, though.

Is this a bug?

Any suggestions would be appreciated. If
this needs the
attention of tech support for a possible fix,
I would like to be
directed as to how to get their attention for
this matter.

Thanks in advance,

Joleen
