Hello, when something went wrong last night after finishing a book, it only
showed garbled characters for book names, and only a few of them. I used the
dots 4 5 6 held down, pressed the reset button, and let up on the keys, and
it told me there was an error formatting the flash disc. Now formatting
isn't a problem, since I have all of the books stored elsewhere for easy
retrieval, so I wasn't worried about the data loss. It told me error 31.
After connecting with active sync, it told me that it couldn't write to the
flash disc at all. I pressed that key combination again, and this time it
said error 30, error in sector 2. Sometimes I can get the flash disc, and
sometimes not. The last time I got the flash disc showing on my laptop, it
showed the dictionaries folder, and the rest of the folders or files were
just periods for names. Is there anything else I can do? Keep in mind that
this is Keysoft version 3.03, with no updates or maintenance, since it was
bought by the state organization. It's been well-used for more than four
years. I read in the manual that you shouldn't put books in the books folder
on the system disc, since they could be deleted when the battery goes flat.
That's another thing that's a problem. I don't get very much battery life,
no matter how I run it flat and recharge. Hopefully you have some
suggestions for a very well-worn unit, which I cannot afford to replace with
my own money.
Thanks a lot.
Matthew
