Oh my pleasure! I honestly don't know if this machine works with the other
portable Braille Devices Mine doesn't but it has not been updated since I
have had it so they could have had tons of new features I don't know about.
You might want to go up on Humanware's page and there is a link up there
with the regional salespeople for Humanware and you could call them make an
appointment for a personal demonstration of this device. Or call
1-800-722-3393 follow the prompts for a companywide directory if you know
who your sales representative is and do it that way but it is certainly a
marvelous device and probably outside of my Kitchen/Aid mixer and Perkins
Brailler, one of the most trouble-free machines made even after being
shipped from Ohio to Arizona.
I do believe we may be a scratch off-topic so I'll close.
Thanks.

Thanks Mary Ellen;
That sure makes it a lot more understandable for me and most likely for
some others out there.
Thanks for your time.

What you do is you plug your Braille Note into the Serial port on the
ScannAr and plug the other end of the cable into the serial port on the
Braille Note.
There is a save dialog box in the menu and when that plugging in process
is
done a second dialogue box opens up asking if you want to save your text
to
your braille note. You use the up and down arrow keys to go through and
the
choices are yes, no and cansel. You select and the Braille Note
automatically creates a folder called Reader and the information is
stored
in there.
Now you can go into that folder from the file manager and do all the
things
the Braille Note lets you do in a regular folder e. g. move copy erase
etc.
I don't use it that often but say you really want to have a look at a
Credit
Card statement to see say if that new pk is on it. You can save your
statement this way and simply read it out in Braille.
Hope this helps.

Hi again;
If the scanner only uses memory, how can you transfer items to the
m-power. Can you download to a card reader? That is the only idea I
can come up with since I know nothing about active sink. I guess since
people are always saying you can transfer data to a Braille note, I
assumed it had a card slot.
This might make a big difference as to witch road I take.
Thanks for any help. Sorry to keep bugging you about this matter, I
just do not have the time to study the site with all my changes in life.

Who said it stored on a cf card. It stores in itself or you can download
it
on to the Braille Note and store the information on any storage media
you
have for the Braille Note

Mary ellen;
If the cf card is going to be demolished, what else can the scanner
store data on? I asked you once before and either you did not get my
message or did not understand my question. This is my big question if
it can not store on anything else but a cf card.
It sure sounds like a neet machine and I would love to be able to read
my own mail, for once in my life. I finally sold my old condo so I
think I can afford something for myself.

Well, I have not had a lot of success with books. This is primarily
because
the books I want to be scanned are cookbooks and the scannAr just does
not
read fractions all that well.
It has my important things such as bills all kinds of records and the
like
but I just have not got the patience to sit and fiddle with a book and
this
machine.
One other thing, with the ScanAr you can download things into your
Braille
Note and read whatever that important letter from Mr. Wright is or go
over
that visa bill or just read a computer generated note from your kids. It
will _Not_ read hand written materials.
So this is about it for ScanAr.

Just go up on Humanware's web page. It is not made by Humanware
but it is
sold by Humanware. I have had one for 3 and a half years and love
it.
You don't have to mess with drivers or installing it into your
computer, You
simply place a document on the glass and it is extremely simple
to operate
and you have an on-board user's manual and it reads bills
fabulously. That
is mainly what I use it for. But it is one heck of a nice machine
and
probably the most trouble-free machines I have ever owned.
I can't say enough about it.
I can't remember what I paid for it but it has been worth every
penny. Oh,
in the newer ones you get Real Speak. I don't have that in mine
but it is
one dynamite little machine and another thing, when you can't
sleep at
night, plug your earphones in and read.
And it is spelled ScanAr Try that on Google but just go up on
Humanware's
site first, its in there.

Hi all.
Is ScanR a humanware product?
Is there a stand alone scanner at Humanware? I was told so, but
when I am
googling for scanR I am being taken to scan with your camera and
send to
scanR service.
Please help with scanner queries. any suggestion is welcome.
