Tara, Yes, I do notice it. I believe this is due to the code. The version of Eloq that is used on BN is different from JAWS (BN uses Eloq 5.0 whereas JAWS uses Eloq 6.1).

I somehow deleted that message. but this is what I wanted to ask. When I try reading books using eloquence on the BN, there are breaks in speech. if you use jaws for reading the speech is continuous. Does everyone feel that difference between reading with jaws and reading using eloquence on the bn? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Joseph Lee" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "'Braillenote List'" <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, November 13, 2006 1:18 AM Subject: RE: [Braillenote] Suggestion: different speech settingsforKeynoteGoldand Eloquence Tara, When the mPower was first introduced in June of 2005, all BrailleNote models then had KeyNOte Gold speech built-in. Since mPower had more memory and multi-channel sound card (meaning that you can hear speech and a media file at the same time), the inclusion of Eloquence was possible. By default, every BrailleNote models including the mPower, ship with KeyNote Gold built-in (except the mPower, which has both KNG and Eloq since KeySoft 7.0). -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Taraprakash Sent: Sunday, November 12, 2006 11:42 AM To: Braillenote List Subject: Re: [Braillenote] Suggestion: different speech settingsforKeynoteGold and Eloquence This might be not relevant to the thread. But what purpose does it serve switching synthesisers? As soon as I found eloquence on the unit I changed over to eloquence, for some reason by default you get keygold. I might be missing the extra advantage you might have, if you use keygold? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Joseph Lee" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "'Matthew Horspool'" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; "'Braillenote List'" <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, November 12, 2006 3:30 PM Subject: RE: [Braillenote] Suggestion: different speech settings forKeynoteGold and Eloquence Matt, I think this cannot be done because the settings are hardware-based and there is no way of doing that. I haven't tried it with JAWS (using different settings for each of the synthesizers that I have). -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Matthew Horspool Sent: Sunday, November 12, 2006 12:16 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [Braillenote] Suggestion: different speech settings for KeynoteGold and Eloquence Hi all, Sorry if this has been posted before, but I've been off the list for a bit. If there's already been a discussion on the topic, don't bother replying. Currently, when switching between Eloquence and Keynote Gold and vice-versa, the speech settings are retained globally. For example, if I am using eloquence at rate 13 and then switch to Keynote, it is now set at rate 13. If I change the speech rate of Keynote to 11 and switch back to Eloquence, Eloquence is now at rate 11. I can personally understand Eloquence at a faster speech rate than Keynote because I use Eloquence every day with JAWS on the computer. I would, therefore, like to be able to set Eloquence at rate 13 and Keynote at rate 10 or 11, and not have to change the speech rate every time I change synthesizer. That is, I would like to have speech settings stored according to synthesizer, rather than on a global basis. Is there any chance we could have this implamented in the next version, as it's such a minor change? Can we have pronunciation dictionaries stored on a synth by synth basis as well? (I'm not sure if this is already the case as I don't use the dictionary, but thought I'd throw the idea in as a footnote.) Thanks, Matthew - - - - - Mr. Matthew F.
