I have the bible KJV on my BN. I originally downloaded it book by book
from the internet. Then I used a BNS and created macros to create the
following
There are to line feed characters between each verse. At the top of each
vers is the address (1:1 or 1:2). The name of the book is only at the top
of the file. Each book has its own file. This makes only 66 files in the
folder called Bible KJVHopwever, it is possible to use the "next paragraph"
command to quickly move down verse by verse.
I also have the NIV bible divided by books. There is a file for each
book. Here, I have to search for the book name and the chapter
number. Once there, I search for the verse number. This is much more
tedious than the KJV format.

Creating it in the first place might be a piece of work, particularly as
the BN doesn't seem to have a macro language, but once done I think it
would work well.
One of the other things that I'd like to experiment with if I could get
the upgrade properly installed in my PK is using the joy stick to move by
verse. I believe that this would be a much bigger project but consider this.
Suppose you defined the page as having a width of 250 characters. And
suppose there was a return after each verse.Now, you could search for the
book you wanted in the old or new testament folder; find the chapter; and
tap down a given number of joy stick taps to find the verse you want. The
technology is right for it, but creating the version of the bible that
would work that way is the challenge.
As for your comment about the other product, I would never be able to use
it in public as the hardware is so awkward and it really doesn't work well
as a Braille only device like my PK does.

Don't, haven't really sussed that one. I just know it's a problem with
the Bible when you want the whole Bible in its various books and those
split also into chapters within a folder. This makes a total of 11090
HTML files in a folder (which is really my ideal) but it's
unworkable. It can take 10 minutes or so to get a listing of these
files, which is why I have had to use a series of favorites (shortcut
files) to accomplish what I want. Whilst this is largely acceptable, I
know for a fact that this is one of the points where the PacMate does not
fall over. (Oh, how I wish that my BN, so good in every other way) just
gave me this flexibility! I really don't understand quite why not!)

I think there's two separate issues. One is that not all Bookshare
books are formatted 100% correctly, and the other is that Windows CE
4.2 doesn't cope well with very large numbers of files (I think it
starts getting iffy much above 1000). There aren't any problems with
the actual download as far as I know.
we'll have to go to a new operating system to fix the problem with
large numbers of files.
