When I used to be able to emboss with my BN, the music files embossed ok. I don't think my embosser knows or cares what grade of braille I used. I just brailled normally.

The reason why I can't emboss now is the infrared to parallel converter I bought won't work with KS 7 and I refuse to buy one of those expensive Edgeport USB to parallel converters. So I have to emboss using my PC.

Christopher:

Not to be picky, but I'd like to reframe your comment just so people understand this issue. If you want to write Braille Music on your BN you certainly don't have to know computer Braille but you are storing your document in computer Braille and transmitting it in computer Braille. This point becomes important when sending the file to an embosser or talking about which file type to use.

Another way of saying this is that computer Braille or grade 0 is what devices communicate in. You certainly don't have to know ASCII to use a computer and you don't have to know computer Braille to write Braille music, but if you run in to trouble or find your results aren't what you expect them to be when you send to an embosser it might be helpful to know that computer Braille is the foundation of the communication between devices.
Thanks!

Thanks for the clarification. Thought someone mentioned that you had to
write in computer Braille, but must have had a senior moment, LOL.
Thanks again.

You don't need to use computer braille because you won't be tranlsating
the
document. You'll just be reading or embossing the file.
