Yes, it is a seperate insurance plan.
Your home owners insurance will not cover the Bn so you will need
extra insurance in order to cover it.

I live in California, and I have coverage for both my laptop and
the BN
anywhere I go with it.
The coverage is through State Farm insurance, and I pay roughly
$19 a month.
I am covered if it is lost or stolen, so I would say it is well
worth the
money.
