Re Daisy books, Have any bn user's in the uk used
the Talking newspaper uk ("Tnauk") Daisy service,
I am running 7,2.
Tnauk only send there daisy publications via cd to
be read on the Victor reader, any suggestions?
I've thought of copying from the cd to a flash
card, has anyone tried this?

A DAISY file may contain just text, or both text
and recorded
audio.
So two people can use the same file differently,
say reading the
text in Braille or by listening to the recorded
audio.
DAISY files are typically created with a chapter,
section and
sub-section index or in the case of a magazine,
Major section, article, item within an article and
sub-item
within an article.
You can instantly move to say the next or previous
article, or
major section and text books are often created
with a page index,
so you can jump to a particular page at the touch
of a few
buttons.
A .brf file is just a flat file with a translation
of text into
Braille.
It has no recorded audio although some Braille
notetakers such as
the BrailleNote can successfully read it aloud
with synthesized
speech.
Hope this explains the advantages of a DAISY file.
Note that not all DAISY files contain both
recorded audio and
text. Some may be just recorded audio, others
just text.
