Thanks, I never thought of the file format angle. I just got a
web page entitled: "Freedom Box network: access denied". I just
figured it was like Napster--you can browse the site, but you
need software to get files.
On another note, I wish it were possible to buy the sound tracks.
Many of these movies are not available from my DVS source, and I
would love to have them. I guess I could record them, but I have
had no luck with PC software recording from the sound card. Oh
well. Hey: how can I erase old accounts? Email me off list at
[EMAIL PROTECTED]; I have a few more questions about FB. Thanks!
Have a great day,
Alex

Hi Alex,
After doing more research, here is the scoop: The FB network is
not
denying non-FB browsers the playing of the movies; it is just
that the
..M3U files are attempting to stream .OGG formatted files. I can
play
DVS movies from the Freedom Box network using my Dell Axim 51V
Pocket
PC device as long as I first install a media player that supports
OGG
format. Since this is a free codec, Humanware should implement
the
..OGG format on their media player sooner rather than later. This
is one
of the few areas where PAC Mate and other PPC devices are
technologically in the lead.
Okay, I'll climb off my soap box now.

Yess, all except DVS audio. What a shame that is!! I have the FB
trial and love the movies, but was disappointed when they gave a
"denied" message on my BN. I even tried putting the URL of the
movie (www.myfreedombox.com/play.m3u?id=[MovieIDNumber) into an
ASX playlist file when the m3u itself failed to work. No luck.
However, you can get the .asx files for radio stations you
stream
and save them. This way you can open the asx instead of a web
favorite.
Have a great day,
Alex

Alex,
You can use it with Keyweb.
Thanks
Original message:
You will not be able to; the network seems to be controled by
the
FB software, which cannot be run on a BN machine because it is
not a KeySoft application. Sorry, I wish I could access it, too.
Have a great day,
Alex
