I am dying to hear the answer to this question. I will be going
on a trip at the end of Feb. and I have also run into this
problem at school. I use insight,m a cable internet provider.
When I am at home and connect to my router wirelessly, I can send
email just fine. I would prefer not to have to pay for a data
plan on my cell phone just to send email since I receive just
fine and have access to the internet. I will have to do
something because I will need to sned email to my proffessor
while I am gone.

Subject: [Braillenote] wifi on the road
Hi,
I have road runner as my isp. I can send and receive mail fine at
home with
my wireless router. I bought the machine for travel.
When I go to hotels and coffee houses, I can bring down my mail,
but I can't
send. I get a relay denied or a 1022 message. Road runner says I
need to
change my smtp address to that of the hotel or coffee house. Most
of the
time they don't know it and when I have changed it, it didn't
work.
Some people have suggested that I use my cell phone as a modem. I
have a
nokia 6620 with Talks. I can browse the net on the web from
anywhere, but
the problem is with EMail. I know others have had that problem.
Some isp's want you to download specialized software to use dial
up or the
web. I have found mail2web to be easy to read from, but difficult
to compose
messages from.
Two people I have talked to have become so frustrated that they
have bought
pda phone combos and gone with code factory software.
Does anyone have suggestions for eMail on the road?
Judy
