My point was, and always will be, that when you hold someone up
in high esteem, you try to do what they do. If your machine
breaks because of this, I believe it loses it warranty.

I believe your point is well taken.
I suppose people would like either a shorter start up sound or
just that
they'd like one that was more pleasing to them.
Let us hope that those who try this are good enough use so that

will not do any permanent harm.
