I don't mean to be argumentative, but as far as the BN goes, Keymail asks if
you want to reply to all and if you press y for yes, the message should go
to everyone on the list as well as to the sender. As things are now, people
must put the sender's address into their address book and then reply
privately to them. Many times, people think they are answering privately
when in fact the message goes to the whole list. I've done it myself.
I think most people are smart enough to know when a message is important
enough to send to the entire list and they can learn how to use that
function of Keymail.

Terri and list,
But the problem is that the whole list won't be able to see the message if
an important message is sent to the original poster. And some of us does
not
know how to utilize that function in email clients. If it is an answer to
a
question that the original poster has sent, then the original sender will
receive it, not the whole list. And if there are numerous people who have
same or similar experiences? They can share their opinion about that
particular issue, and the answer may benefit not just the sender, but the
whole list. And if anybody has an issue that has been discussed before,
then
that person can save the answer and use it to solve the problem without
having to clutter the list traffic. Also, that person can always access
the
list archive and see what the list had to say regarding the issue that he
or
she is experiencing and get an answer from there.
This is just my opinion.
Cheers,
Joseph

Andy,
The GW Micro list is set up so replies go to the sender automatically
instead of to the whole list. There's a note at the end of each post
reminding listers their replies will go to the sender only and if the
poster
thinks his or her message would benefit the whole list, the poster can
choose than option in their email program. I would be in favor of such a
change for the BN list.

Hi Michele,
I don't mind how much you discuss how much better HumanWare notetakers
are than the others! <grin>
now, this applies to a lot of list messages recently, not any one topic
in
particular - some of the messages would have been better sent privately
than
to the list as a whole. Please consider whether your post adds useful
information - simply agreeing with someone else is not usually necessary,
unless there's some doubt about the issue. If you're asking a question
of
one person, then email them directly.
I get complaints every now and then from people who are unable to cope
with
the volume of list traffic, so please be considerate of them. It has
been
suggested that I change the list so that when you reply, it goes to the
person who posts the message, rather than the list, which sounds like a
good
idea.
regards,
Andy.
