I too have had the loss of speech problem, but as Vicky said it's easy to
fix with a simple reset. The hardware on the PK is terrific! As far as I'm
concerned, it's the finest piece of Braille hardware I've ever owned. The
only one I've had a greater love for was my first VersaBraille! Now that
was a real love affair! But the PK comes close.
The things that make it so great are it's size, the location of the advance
keys, the fact that I can easily pick it up in one hand, the thumb joy
stick, etc etc. I don't mean to diss the empower but I love my PK!

Absence of PK users? Not I, grin, as I think the PK is wonderful! I
guess,
though, that it is geared toward a slightly different market than the
mPower, but I certainly do use and like mine and love its small size and
ease of portability. But, to be fair, I don't need to print from the PK,
and I do have an mPower for those times that I might want to use features
that it has and which the PK does not. Also, as to the loss of speech
problem on the PK, yes, I have had it on occasion as well, but a regular
reset always does seem to clear up the problem.

I remember someone saying on the list, back when I'd
brought up the absense of PK users, that they had been
having problems of speech loss on the unit. I was
curious as to how this could be possible, and whether
