another nasty idea would be to to try and turn off, reset or let attery die while a file is closing or translatig. loss is inevitable and unrecoverable. ----- Original Message ----- From: "FunGuy" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Hi Maurine:

Braille cells are activated with electromagnets. When you turn the unit off, the charge is taken off the magnet so the dot can fall back. My guess here is that you are just seeing the characters until the charge fades from the magnet and the pin falls back in to the display.

By the way, when the unit is on the dots are pulled down with an opposite charge so you don't see shadow or old dots when you refresh. I hope this helps.

Why when powering off the me power unit does the main menu display for a second or so after the unit is off?

Rob,
Certaintly, it will. But to minimize data loss through Reset, it is suggested that you return to Main Menu before you turn off your unit. This will ensure that the data's been saved.
Cheers,
Joseph

I was curious about this. I looked at a
powerpoint
presentation by Buffalo University about
using the
BrailleNote, and they recommended you return
to the
Main Menu BEFORE turning off the BrailleNote.
I'm just
curious as to why that is. Also, if you do
turn it off
while in, say, KeyWord, would the BrailleNote
announce
"KeyWord - ABC Document" when you turn it
back on?
