Yes, the hex digits are case sensitive which is why it's always best to generate your own wep key rather than letting the router generate it for you. Remember that only the letters a through f are allowed as letter characters in a wep key.
If you choose 64 bit, the wep key must be exactly 10 characters in length. If you choose 128 bit encryption, the wep key must be 26 characters in length. In both cases the key can be made up of a comcombination of the number 0 through 9 and the letters a through f.
