Ottawa Canada Dear Nikki:
Well you can go ahead and buy your SMA now and beat the rush when Humanware announces a new release of KeySoft, but I expect you don't necessarily have tons of money kicking around to cover the cost just now. If you stay tuned to this list, you will find when a new version of KeySoft is announced, Humanware generally gives between a few days and a few weeks advance notice of the new release so folks can buy an SMA. They are really quite sporting about this. Actually the release date of a new version of KeySoft is a fairly proprietary thing as the competitors would love to know it so they could say release a new version of their product a few days earlier and scoop the market so to speak. That is one of the main reasons why Humanware doesn't make this information known very far in advance. Also, while they may have a tentative release date in mind, and often technology companies aim for releases around the national blind conventions, Closing The Gap etc., they don't want to announce an upcoming release date then find pesky, stubborn bugs in the testing phase and disappoint everyone including themselves by having to announce a postponement of the release. Some firms are known to rush products out in time for the national conventions and a friend has commented to me privately never to get the upgrades from one particular firm rushed out the door to be release at convention time as they generally have serious bugs. He didn't heed his own advice one time, bought a convention release of software for his notetaker thought it was fantastic then a few days later found he had files disappearing from his unit without warning! He learned the hard way his advice still held true. And no, his notetaker was NOT made by Humanware! Hope this explains things. Brian -- No virus found in this outgoing message.
