My understanding is that Skype is not currently available on the BrailleNote. A possible jab to Humanware is that it is available on the PAC Mate in a Pocket PC version, revising the age-old debate of an open mainstream platform versus a closed, proprietary one in the form of Keysoft. Ironic that one of the BN's greatest strengths is also its potential Achilles heel, but I digress.

In fairness, however, I've had mixed results in using Skype on a Pocket PC. In my experience, its intuitiveness on the Pocket PC platform is much less than on a desktop or laptop, where you can just tab to the edit field, type in a Skype name or phone number, and hit Enter to call. I don't know if this is wishful thinking on the part of an end user, but I would see the ability to use a service like Skype on the BrailleNote as quite useful.

It may be possible to "chat" using a web-based chat room, although of course it's not the same as voice communication.

Regards,

Chad

Subject: [Braillenote] chat with the braillenote

Hi y'all.

Does anyone know if you can use things like skipe with the braillenote, or if any kinds of chatting options currently work with it?

Thanks, Louise.
