I think a fantastic job was done explaining the functions of the PK and uses of the computer. You have to think about what medium you are most comfortable working in. If you are a proficient braille user, or if you would rather use the qwerty keyboard. The pk has speech as well as Braille output, so you can crank up the voice rate and fly through material if needed. What I find most beneficial about using the PK is it's compact size. I run my belt through the loops on the case, and have everything the pk has to offer always at hand. Whenever there is a wireless network to connect to, or if I have cell phone signal, I have access to email and internet. I prefer using the pc with JAWS to browse the internet. I will use the pk with the computer as a braille display. I think the pages load faster, and I can navigate around the page faster with JAWS. But, it is easy to download my paper from bookshare and read it on the go. Dan Kelley

I guess it is just kind of a matter of what one gets used to using. But, although I may use the computer more, I do use the PK at least some of the time for both email and internet. And, although I might not use my PK all the time for internet, I have tried it with both my banking and credit card sites, just to see if they will work, and I have been able to successfully view my accounts and pay my bills with the PK. When I purchase things or pay bills online, though, I like to save my email confirmation right from the Outlook Express copy on the PC, so I am then able to bring up that message and forward if necessary, meaning if some sort of proof is ever needed of my online transaction. And, oh, yes, remember that the PK doesn't stream audio, nor does it let you print or emboss files. You are able, though, to download audio files from a web site and then listen to them using your PK. Note, I plan on using the PK with a wireless internet card. ___ Replies to this message will go directly to the sender.
