Chaman and list,
In order for outside developers to write applications and to receive support notes from HumanWare developers, there should be a way for outside developers to get a hand on sourcecode for KeySoft in a form of SDK. Since it is not released yet, it is not possible to setup KeySoft Developers Network at this time. Setting up KSDN will speed up KeySoft's devolpment by having outsiders to look at the code, it will increase demand for testing KeySoft. Yes, I talk to Andy and Jonathan privately sometimes to discuss indefth issues such as KeySoft under Windows CE 5.0/6.0, detailed discussion on memory management, driver issues and so on. (you might want to talk to Jonathan Sharp about this) Also I have contact information to various people at HumanWare, namely Kate Dasler, Marice Sloane, and others (I sometimes talk to Jonathan Mosen privately as well).
Cheers,
Joseph

Hi Rob,
KSDN (KeySoft Developers Network) is not
ready yet (the SDK must be first released).
At this point, it is unlikely that a new OS
upgrade to Windows CE 5.0 or 6.0 with a
designated KeySoft is released in the near
future (at least for about a year or two).
Cheers,
Joseph

Subject: [Braillenote] KeySoft developer's
network

I'm curious. I was listening to the 2004
Main Menu
surrounding the BrailleNote PK, and
Brailliant 24
Bluetooth Display, and there was some hubbub
about the
open platform business...my question is
whether or not
Keysoft will EVER release the development
network? One
thing I do know that they absolutely HAVE to
do (and i
hope this happens with KeySoft 8 or 7.5 or
whatever
their numbering system is for the next huge
release),
is to upgrade to the core components for
Windows CE
version 6.0 MINIMUM. There are a lot of
support
elements for off the shelf Pocket PC devices
running
Windows Mobile 6 including Windows Live
Messenger
(reference my KeyChat idea), and other little
nuts and
bolts, that if this does not happen, then the
BrailleNote will be behind. This is just my
two cents
and i seem to recall a similar topic up here
a month
or so ago but i don't remember the details so
i
apologize if i'm going on about nothing, but
anyway,
i'm done rambling. Now then: What do you
guys think?
LOL
