Sharon, we also had a similar problem due to a power outage, which wasn't even related to a storm though. I think the router had to be totally reconfigured, and it was a major pain in the neck.
Glad you and your brother got yours going again.
I guess during storms it should be turned off, but there's no way to predict a power outage when there's no storm, the power company probably can't always predict it either.

Subject: [Braillenote] storms and wireless conections

Hi, I was wondering if storms effected a wireless signal? What
happened is we had a really bad storm here last night, even
though we didn't get the worst of it we still got a bad thunder
storm. Before I went to bed last night I was able to access my
internet wirelessly, I was doing this because it was safer than
using my computer in the storm. When I woke up this morning I
wasn't able connect to the wireless at all. Even when I was
standing next to the router there was nothing. This afternoon my
brother and I fiddled around and got it working again but we
don't know why it stopped working in the first place.

Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on this?

From Shaz.
P. s. For those of you who know me and the Canberra Blind
Society, my place is fine however the Canberra Blind Society will
be closed for a few days. The office didn't suffer any damage
but the building did and clients aren't allowed in at the moment.
When I was there today we had no power. I'm not sure when the
office will be opened again it depends on what happens with the
building, its roof came in just like a number of buildings in
Civic. If you would like to be kept up to date let me know.
