What information do you want - general or
technical specs?
In terms of technical differences:
* CPU: The Classic has a MIPS R4000 clocked
(running) at 100 MHz, which is slow by
today's standards. PK has an Intel X-Scale
processor clocked approximately 400 MHz, but
a bit slower than mPower, which also has
Intel X-Scale clocked at 416 MHz.
* Memory: Classic has 16 MB RAM with 16 MB
Flash (upgradable to 48 MB). Both PK and
mPower both have 64 MB of RAM (PK actually
has 40 MB of RAM). PK has 16 MB of Flash
while mPower has 128 MB of Flash.
* Connectivity: All three models have serial
port (the serial port on the PK is a custom
eesign), a CompactFlash slot and headphone
jack. Both the PK and the mPower has
internal microphone with Record button.
Classic and the mPower has InfraRed port, a
PC card slot and a 56k modem. Both PK and
mPower has a USB client (Mini b) connector
for ActiveSync/Sync Center connectivity.
Only Classic has parallel port and only
mPower has microphone jack, SD card slot, FM
Radio and two USB host ports. All three
models support WiFi and/or wired Ethernet
network connection. Only PK and mPower has
Bluetooth built-in.
* Braille display: both Classic and the
mPower have two braille displays that are
installed depending on the purchase date:
Classics after 2005, as well as new mPowers
has KGS braille cells, while older Classics
and the mPower Transplants have Tieman
braille cells. PK has Baum cells which are
used in Brailliant.
* Software: Basically, KeySoft is same on
both models. The software features that a
model has depends on its hardware
configuration. Some of the differences are
as follows (based on KeySoft 7.2.47):
* Printing and embossing is availible on all
models (mPower and Classic) except PK.
* Streaming media (such as Internet radio) is
availible in all models (mPower and PK)
except Classic.
* Independent speech and media control is
availible on all models except Classic (there
is a well known workaround for Classic which
is undocumented).
* FM Radio chip/software is only found in
mPowers.
* Eloquence synthesizer is only availible in
mPowers.
* Navigation by joystick is only availible in
PK.
* Voice Recorder is availible only in PK and
mPower.
