Hi there guys yes I wonder about that too? I'VE had 2 ambi com cards and they wouldn't work.

My compact slot works because it detects my compact card and the ethernet card but not the wirlesscards.
What card would you recommend?

You can e-mail me off list and where can you get the wireless cards from and whats the price for the card?

I heard that some of the sandisk cards work.

Have a great day guys.

About how long should a battery in the MPower last between
charges? I don't get much more than about 5 hours of use between charges and while a good bit of it is time on the net, I thought it would last a little longer than that. I've had my transplant for a month now and was under the impression that only the display was transplanted, but am wondering if my over 3-year-old battery was as well.

Hi there,
It depends on what you are using. Surffing
the web using some form of connection -
dialup, LAN, or WiFi - denerally tends to
decrease the battery life because more
components need power. According to my
experiment, if you have nothing turned on -
that is, both Bluetooth and WiFi is turned
off - then you'll get generally about 10
hours of battery life or more (the record is
about 15 hours). Also, the battery discharge
value may play a key factor - go to Options
Menu, then press SPACE with i (READ pkus s)
to go to Support Info mode, then type c and
d. Read the d value carefully.
Cheers,
Joseph

Betsy,

This will depend on what you are using your mPower for and what
kinds of
things you have plugged into it and so on. If I am using the GPS
with the
CompactFlash Card, SD card, and the bluetooth on it will last
anywhere
between 10 and 13 hours. But, let's say you have an SD card,
WiFi card,
CompactFlash card all inserted, two external hard drives that get
their
power from the USB port, bluetooth on, you have music streaming,
and you are
on the net, then your battery should not last much longer than a
few hours.
I know that these are the two extreme ways that a user may use
their
BrailleNote, but just so that you get the picture it really
depends on the
use.

Kevin

Hi, David!

Congratulations! You will love the speed of the
download capability for the email and anything off the
Internet. Really, I have enjoyed my transplant
tremendously since I got it in October.

Enjoy!

I am happy to say that I just had my braille note sent
off today for a transplant to an mPower! I am very
excited about this, and am hoping that I will find it
very productive. I have a question though. How stable
are the internet and email functions in comparison to
the classics running 6 and above?
Thanks,
David

Hi Kendell,
Sorry for delay.
There was a issue of some batteries draining a bit faster, so
HumanWare has
come up with a new board to fix the problem. This is the RVC6S
board. The
difference is that the older RVC2 board has 1800 battery, whereas
the nweer
ones have 1650 battery.
Cheers,
Joseph

hello list:
A bunch of ner mPowers came into my school today. When I
examined them I
found they had a new motherboard than mine. Mine has version
rvc2. Those had
version rvc6s. Can someone tell me the difference in the two?
Can someone
also email andy and ask him to tell me the difference also?
A note about the updated sd card driver, Andrew emailed me and
asked me not
to release the driver to the list (even though I had already
tried) until
he'd tested it. But it is on it's way, but I don't know when.
Thanks:
Kendell

Cross posted to the two relevant lists: concerns file transfer
initiated by
K1000 to the BrailleNote.

All help appreciated.

I am working with a client, who has the BrailleNote MPower,
loaded with
Keysoft v7.2, and the pc has Kurzweil v11.0.

Cannot get K1000 to send to the BrailleNote via the Usb. The
BrailleNote
has a conection established through Activesync. Activesybnc is
v3.8, as
supplied by Humanware.

The error message from K1000 is "cannot open device" but it has
saved all
relevant settings, a file is ready to send. The BrailleNote is
correctly
identified by Windows through "My Computer"

The computer is a Toshiba Satellite running Windows XP
Professional. Cannot
remember the model number. It has two Usb ports - the Epson
10/100 scanner
is connected to one, the BrailleNote to the other.

Appreciate all help.

Vaughan.

Hello List,

I am wondering what is the best wireless card for the mPower? I
want to also know what card will last the longest.
Thanks

P.S.
Why do only wireless card with the BrailleNote go bad? I have had
a card with my laptop and it has not gone bad. Thanks

Does KeySoft and KeySync support Apple mac computers
and the iSync utility? I heard Johnathan metion
macintoshes in terms of the BrailleNote's
communications abilities in the PK tutorial.

How stable is the BrailleNote PK? It seems to me i've
seen PK users on here with more system complaints than
any other BN family member.

I used to be able to hook up my Braille Note to the desktop and
use it
as a braille display, especially useful when reading foreign
language
websites.

I can't seem to make the m-power do this, partly as the choice
from the
Braille Terminal menu does not include USB. My PC has only one
serial
port, at least, I think it's a serial port, 25-pin, but JAWS
keeps
insisting that it can't read the Braille driver so I don't know
whether
the problem is with the m-power or JAWS. Any advice?
Rebecca Redmile
