Hi Isaih,
I had the same question and Kevin told me it will not work with VoiceNote since the tutorial requires braille display to display Nemeth symbols.
Cheers,
Joseph

Subject: Re: [Braillenote] nemeth tutorial

Hi Kevin! I hope this doesn't seem like a
foolish question, but
I want to know if the tutorial being
discussed would be of any
use to someone that only has a voicenote
unit? I ask that
because as you already know, the voicenotes
don't have braille
displays, and given the fact that we're
discussing math symbols
and such, I just wonder if someone that has a
braillenote would
benefit more from such a tutorial? Hopefully
voicenote users can
also benefit from this tutorial, but if not,
I guess I can see
where a person that has access to a braille
display would.
Thanks in advance for addressing my inquiry.
Isaih

David,

What the Nemeth Tutorial is a tutorial for
the Nemeth code for
mathematics
and science Braille. It is divided into 18
chapters with each of
them having
a few sections within them. Each lesson has
an explanation,
reading
excersise, writing exercise, and proofreading
exercise. So it
really breaks
down the information and drills the lesson in
and takes many
different
approaches to suit most learning styles. It
starts at the basic
introductory information like the numeric
indicator down to the
symbols used
in Calculus. This is a toll that is meant to
either teach
students or for
students to self-teach themselves the Nemeth
Code for Mathematics
and
Science. The target age for this is students
between the 5th
grade to the
college level. The reason for the 5th grade
being the starting
time is
because at that age kids will have the
ability to use a NoteTaker
perficiently and will have the ability to
teach themselves
information and
content. You may be wondering when will this
Nemeth Tutorial be
out exactly,
it will be out the beginning of next month.
I will say from
being a beta
tester for the last few weeks and also be a
math person myself
taking
Calculus that it is and will be a wonderful
tool for those
students who are
wanting a refresher course in the Nemeth Code
or wanting to learn
the Nemeth
code because they are planning on taking
higher level mathematics
and
science. Another thing is there are a
majority of blind and low
vision
students who are not encouraged to take
higher level mathematics
or science
courses because society feels that they
should not enter those
courses or it
cannot be done, so with this tool I am hoping
that it will
encourage
students to not have a fear of math nor
science.

If you have any other specific question,
please feel free to ask.

What is the nemeth tutorial for the bn
mPower? I don't know much
about it.
Any information on that would be greatly
apreciated.
