The driver that you are mentioning is not meant to allow upgrades to be done with SD cards that are larger than 1 GB. There will still be the requirement of cards being at least 64 MB and no greater than 512 MB in size. What the SD driver is meant to do is allow users to read/write to SD cards that are larger than 2 GB. At the moment if a user had a cards that is greater than 2 GB after about using about 1.5 GB of the card, the user will no longer be able to read/write information that goes beyond about 1.5 GB of the card. So in a pinch the SD card driver allows users to use high-capacity SD cards.
