So you can write in Nemeth and the BN will know what you are
doing; it can read (speak) the Nemeth properly, right? You cannot
print, but can you email and have the file translated correctly?
It seems like it would be a simple thing to translate the Nemeth
into a computer Braille format and send/print it that way. The
ASCII character values would come out correctly to the sighted
but be translated back to Nemeth for the BN. Am I completely
mixed up here?
Have a great day,
Alex

Alex,
The Nemeth Tutorial will be a program similar to the Sendero GPS
or
dictionary program that can be installed as an add-on for the
BrailleNote
mPower only. This is more than a Nemeth book, the portion of it
that is
similar to the Nemeth book are the explanation sections, but
there are also
reading excersises, writing excersise, and proofreading
excersises
designated for each lesson. This will not allow you to print
Nemeth
however, but it is another tool that can be used to be literate
in the
Nemeth code on the BraileNote mPowers.

Here is what may very well be a stupid question: does this
tutorial, which
I see as nothing more than a Nemeth book, come with a program so
the BN
can finally interpret the Nemeth code? There are already
resources out
there to learn Nemeth, but the BN family currently has no idea
what Nemeth
is and cannot support it. Will they be able to after this
'tutorial' is
released? If so, does it require you to be in a Braille file or
can you be
in any file or Braille grade?
Have a great day,
Alex

David,
What the Nemeth Tutorial is a tutorial for the Nemeth code for
mathematics
and science Braille. It is divided into 18 chapters with each of
them having
a few sections within them. Each lesson has an explanation,
reading
excersise, writing exercise, and proofreading exercise. So it
really breaks
down the information and drills the lesson in and takes many
different
approaches to suit most learning styles. It starts at the basic
introductory information like the numeric indicator down to the
symbols used
in Calculus. This is a toll that is meant to either teach
students or for
students to self-teach themselves the Nemeth Code for Mathematics
and
Science. The target age for this is students between the 5th
grade to the
college level. The reason for the 5th grade being the starting
time is
because at that age kids will have the ability to use a NoteTaker
perficiently and will have the ability to teach themselves
information and
content. You may be wondering when will this Nemeth Tutorial be
out exactly,
it will be out the beginning of next month. I will say from being
a beta
tester for the last few weeks and also be a math person myself
taking
Calculus that it is and will be a wonderful tool for those
students who are
wanting a refresher course in the Nemeth Code or wanting to learn
the Nemeth
code because they are planning on taking higher level mathematics
and
science. Another thing is there are a majority of blind and low
vision
students who are not encouraged to take higher level mathematics
or science
courses because society feels that they should not enter those
courses or it
cannot be done, so with this tool I am hoping that it will
encourage
students to not have a fear of math nor science.
If you have any other specific question, please feel free to ask.

What is the nemeth tutorial for the bn mPower? I don't know much
about it.
Any information on that would be greatly apreciated.
