Hi Stacey and all,
Stacey, did you install the DST patch from
Microsoft? And did you set your BrailleNote
to use Daylight Savings Time? (I know it
because we've discussed this on Blind Cool
Tech list)
Cheers,
Joseph

Subject: Re: [Braillenote] Active sync
questions
Hi Stacey,
First, about the clock being set back an
hour, if memory serves, Carl
Simmons mentioned this as a known problem
that HW is aware of. But, if you
don't want to have to deal with it in the
meantime, uncheck the box in
ActiveSync that says to synchronize mobile
device clock upon connecting.
Using ActiveSync 4.5, I found this box by
doing an alt t for tools, then o
for options, and then just tabbing to the
box. And, oh, yes, I couldn't
find the box until I actually had my BN
connected via ActiveSync.
As for the backup feature in ActiveSync, are
you talking about the backup
found by going to alt t for tools, and then
hitting the letter b for
backup/restore? If so, I'm just not sure
what that would do on the BN.
True, I did do a backup that way once, but I
sure wasn't brave enough to try
a restore from that backup.
Let me explain what more I know about that
backup, and then I'll tell you
how to find the folder, should you really
want it, and if this is actually
what you are talking about. Although
ActiveSync removed this backup feature
when using Windows Mobile 5.0 devices, I was
able to use the backup feature
at one point when I had a PAC Mate running
Windows Mobile 2003. However,
ActiveSync didn't backup the
flash disk, or whatever it is called on the
PAC Mate; but, rather, it only
backed up the main memory, which I'm thinking
would be about the same as the
system disk on the BN. And, although that
was quite useful when I had
installed programs to the main memory on the
PM, I don't know how much use
it would be on the BN, or what harm, if any,
a restore from that type of
backup would do
to a BN. However, of course, using
ActiveSync, you are able to explore your
BN and copy and
paste files to and from the BN and PC in the
usual way, and thus save files
to your PC that way.
Now, to find that backup folder, should you
really want it, here is what you
can do. While in ActiveSync, hit alt t for
tools, then b for
backup/restore, then tab once. You should
hear something like, backup to
this file, and then a file name and path will
be given. So, just hit the
home key on your screen reader to go to the
beginning of that line and start
reading the file path/name, character by
character if you like.

Subject: [Braillenote] Active sync questions
Hi all,
I just installed active sync on my laptop.
HOw can I fix it so that it
doesn't reset my time. It set it back one
hour from 5:15 to 4:15 CDT.
Is there a way taht I can back up everything
on my flash disk to my
laptop? If I back up the files, can I restore
them from the laptop or a CD?
Thanks for all help.
