Nikki; Are you going to either of the national conventions? If so, you can get your unit cleaned there. Most likely I am going to get mine cleaned at NFB National Convention. I think it helps prolong the life of your unit. If you are a heavy user, get it cleaned twice, and if you are a lite user like me, once should be enough unless you can find the time for a second cleaning. I find doing it at convention very helpful since I use my unit at work and then I do not have to give it up while at work. I also always keep my case cover over my machine while not in use. I think this protects the machine. All I need to do is flit the cover up and turn it on. This prevents dirt from effecting my Braille display.

I believe 2 cleanings are provided free of charge the first year. Is that correct? What do you all recommend about sending in the unit for cleaning if there is nothing apparantly wrong with it? I will have a couple of weeks coming up where I won't need the BN quite as much and was wondering if I should take that opportunity to send it in for a good cleaning. I almost hate to do this though in light of reading other e-mails where it seems the units have come home from servicing with more problems than they had in the first place. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Sincerely, Nikki B. ___ Replies to this message will go directly to the sender.
