Hello List,
For those of you who are looking for an inexpensive, good quality microphone to use with your MPower, I'm sending some information which may help you. The first message below is Jonathan Mosen's message from the Humanware archives, which describes this little microphone, and what he thinks about it's performance. The second message is one that I received from
Mr. Darren Nemeth, owner of "Giant Squid Audio Lab" where the
microphone can be purchased.
I've spoken with a Humanware representative in the hopes that Humanware will take the initiative to make something like this available to us. Meanwhile, for those of you wanting a good quality microphone now, here's Jonathan's message and Mr. Nemeth's
contact information.

1. Jonathan Mosen's message from the Humanware archives:
QUOTE:
Hi all, I'm passing this information on as a BrailleNote mPower user.
HumanWare has no relationship with the company concerned.
There've been a few people interested in good microphones for
the BrailleNote mPower.
Recently I purchased a microphone from a small company called Giant
Squid Audio lab.
It's a gold plated microphone housed in a standard 3.5 mm plug. So what you get is a plug that goes into the microphone socket of your BrailleNote mPower, and the microphone is included in the actual plug. No wires to worry about or anything to hold. The quality of this little microphone is remarkable, the frequency response is superb. And it is omnidirectional, which means that it's ideal for recording sound in any direction anywhere in the room. I used this microphone as part of my most recent podcast and am delighted with the results. It only costs around US. 19.00.

2. The message I received from Mr. Nemeth, in response to my message
requesting information about ordering this microphone:
QUOTE:
Hello, Sammie,
Here is the mic he spoke of.

It can be ordered from my site using Paypal. I have no stores anywhere. I make the
mics here at home.
