Well, companies don't release any information about what is in the forth coming release until they are ready to release it. They will release the information about what is contained in the next release a few weeks prior to releasing the software. This is due to competition, they are not wanting to let the competetors know what is coming on down the road too soon. Companies also don't want to make empty promises. There are a series of testing levels that must be done prior to making any program final: Alpha Testing, Beta Testing, then they are ready for final release. Throughout these testing cycles there are a number of bugs that are sorted out and things that might of been a feature might be taken out because of it taking too much time to implement or it not being feasible.
These testing cycles are full of hard work put forth, so any bugs/issues that are found are surely not common. I know this to be a fact from owrking on two Beta teams.
