Richard, this is also true of the new ethernet cards. After you
have installed the driver, and "rugged", you are required to have
your machine be off. Put the card in, and turn the machine on.
I haven't a clue why, but it seems to be the norm with SanDisk,
and the new ruggedized ethernet cards.

Subject: [Braillenote] Odd symptoms
Greetings:
One of my co-workers here in Iowa recently (Monday) received her
Braille
Note mPower QT.
It works fine, except for one thing.
If you put a wireless card in the machine while it is on, it
locks up
tighter than a maximum security prison! You can insert such a
card if
the machine is off and subsequently turn it on and all is fine,
but if
you try to do it when the machine is already on, lock lock!
Frankly, I am at a loss to explain this one. We've tried two
different
wireless cards, both of which function flawlessly in other
Braille
notes.
We get the same results. One might think that the problem was
with the
compact flash slot, but compact flash storage cards also function
correctly. And, if you make sure to insert the wireless card
while the
machine is off, the wireless card will also function as it
should.
She doesn't really want to send it in for repair, knowing she'll
be
without it for six to eight weeks.
And, since she can in fact use a wireless card, I can't blame
her.
If anyone has any idea as to why this is happening, some
enlightenment
would be greatly appreciated.
