Steve, try opening the HTML file from within Keyweb. I think you're trying to open it using Keyword, hence the garbled text. Hope that helps. By the way, what are the codes for things like English USA, etc? Thanks! ----- Original Message ----- From: "stephen" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Subject: [Braillenote] HTML hidden in Braille--how can we get out of that

Hi,

I am posting this on behalf of another.

We have a file which was saved as Braille from an email attachment.
Now, the trouble is that this file contains html.
We would like to get the meaningful text out of it.
I have tried all sorts of things but with no success.
My feeling is that the BN needs persuading to see the contence of the file as Ascii.
Then perhaps the html it contains can be made into text.

When viewing the file it has an "English USA" Braille indicator at the beginning.
I have tried backspace to delete it but it won't go.
I have tried import/export on the file, translating it, simply saving it as Ascii, but the only change I can get is that the Braille contractions are expanded.
This means for example, all the "/" characters become "st".
Unfortunately, if I tried to suggest to the BN that the Ascii file was really html, it would get very confused. Some other things noted while viewing the file: dots 2-3-6 are pronounced "lower H"; there are many "less-than" and "greater-than" spelled out as in those quotation marks; the top line of the file mentions XMLNS rather than html.

How can we decode this Braille html?

Very many thanks for suggestions and comments.
Regards,
Steve.
