Hi Sissy:

I did know that I would have to send the unit in for battery replacement
when I purchased it. However, I purchased one of the first Braille
Notes when they came out in 2000. I wanted a portable device that could
do e-mail and had a refereshable braille display, and I liked the
quality of the products Humanware sold as I had a Braille Companion
before getting my Braille Note. So, I was willing to put up with this.
However, times and technology have changed since 2000 and I have seen
other devices that have user replaceable batteries. I, personally love
my Braille Note and want to see it continue to surpass, not just keep up
with the competition. People depend on their Braille Notes and can't
afford to be without them for a couple of weeks or more just for a
battery replacement. With the sums of money we invest in these
products, it's not like many of us can simply go out and, say, buy a
Braille Sense simply because it offers user replaceable batteries.

Thanks,
