Hi, Rob,
Sounds like a good idea to me. I have a question, though. How would a
Linux version of Keysoft interface with programs like Microsoft Word?
Another words, how can people transfer data from the BN to a PC using the
Linux system?
There was a linux-based notetaker on the market called the Elba, but I never
saw a demonstration model and I couldn't join their mailing list. Also, the
notetaker was quite heavy, four or five pounds. The vendor wasn't able to
answer my questions.

Subject: [Braillenote] Using Linux
I was curious about anyone's thoughts on dumping Windows CE and running
KeySoft off of a specialty form of Linux? (this way, anyone can program for
the BrailleNote, and the limitations of Windows CE would no longer exist).
Plus, being that Linux is more stable, there would be no more system
crashes, if any have occured before. Any thoughts on this? Incidentally two
things you should know if you don't already know about Linux: 1. It's FREE!
(hopefully this may drive down the purchase cost of future braille notes)
and 2. It's rock solid, no viruses, and it's completely 100% open source
so, again, anyone can program for it.
