Hi Karyn, Richard and others,
I'll promise that this is going to be the
last post from me about this:
Remember what happened to Windows ME? It was
released too "soon" and was replaced by more
stable XP thirteen months later. Do you
still remember all talks about KeySoft 7.2
and its issues back in September last year?
There were tons of complaints about KeySoft
7.2 and I believe HW does not want to repeat
it again with KeySoft 7.5. So I would like
to ask those who are anxious to: first, wait
unjil it is released, and two, if you are too
anxious, check HumanWare website frequently.
I'll remind you again: that BrailleNote is
meant to be a PC companion, not a PC
replacement device. Windows CE is completely
different from regular Windows (like Vista)
and CE should not be confused as full Windows
version (merely it is a version of Windows
targeted for PDA devices). (sorry for the
tone of this message)
Cheers,
Joseph

Richard and all,
First to Richard, thank you as I agree with
you. Some people think these
devices should be just like a PC; and you
pointed out the fact that they are
not and never will be.
Unfortunately many people on this list don't
understand software development
either. It takes a long time to develop
software as it has to be written
and then tested so it can be debugged and
then tested again. As Richard so
rightly points out, there is a lot of
development which is needed for the
things that people think this unit ought to
be abel to do; and, again, they
don't realize or think about the fact that
these units are PDAs, not PCs.
There are those who want things quick, quick,
quick. Well I hate to tell
you but it won't happen.
As others have said, those of you who are
screaming about 7.5 not being out
would be the first to scream if it was
released too soon and had many bugs.
As Ray asked, what do you guys want?
Again, as for Word support, I will say this
again. That is a Microsoft
issue and HW is working with Microsoft on
that issue. My understanding is
that it has to do with the changing document
format with each version of
Word. This is a lay person's explanation of
what she heard at the ACB
convention with regard to this issue.
Thanks.
