Dear Terry and List:

The two-piece charger can handle a bit more current than the
one-piece charger, so helps keep the battery fully charged when
the unit is in use while plugged into the charger.

However the one-piece and two-piece chargers are essentially
equivalent to one another, except that the two-piece charger will
work on any voltage from 100 through 250 volts 50 or 60 cycles.

So the two-piece charger is nice to have, but not essential
unless you will be travelling to other countries with 220 or 240
volt power.

There are various plugs used for 220 volt power in various
countries.

In Germany, I believe they use a plug with two round pins while
in I think it is Korea they use the North American style plug
called Crow's Foot, with two flat prongs on about a 45 degree
angle to one another and a third flat prong below them that is
vertical.

Of course in North
America for high current 220 volt loads, we use the relatively
huge twist-lock plugs used on clothes dryers and electric ranges.
