Hi Kate:

What file type did you use? Just one suggestion: don't put anything on the Keysoft System Disk, because when you reset, you will lose those files. Had you created a folder? Would you happen to remember if you were on your compact flash card, or flash drive? Was it a text document? One thing you might do, if you know about where it was is to go from the File Directory.

From Main Menu, press F, D. At your "drive" prompt, select the
drive you think it's in. Press Enter. If you don't know for sure where you put the file, start with the "none" folder. After you have entered, you will see "list of files" prompt. Press Space with X for a BT, (Read with X for a QT. Do that until you see "hidden files". That way, you'll see everything.

Hope this makes sense.

Subject: [Braillenote] Lost file in Braille Note MPower

Hello - I have just joined this list and have not checked the
archives so
my apologies if this is a topic that has been discussed.

Today when I was writing very quickly in a file that I created
and wrote in
during the last few days, I found myself out of the file and in
the keyword
menu. I could not find the file in the file list. This has
happened
before but I (fortunately) have only lost a file once. I check
the "none"
folder, the flash drive, the keysoft drive - I have all of my
information
on a compact flashcard but was unable to locate the file. I even
checked
for a possible abbreviated name.

One thing that I discovered and I don't know if it is at all
relevant was
that in the "none" folder on the keysoft drive were quite a
number of files
labeled temp01.rtf, temp02.rtf, etc., etc. Each was the same
file and it
was part of another file that I had on my CF card. There were
also quite a
number of other files with letters followed by a "dot" and
various
extensions. One of them was a file that was modified today about
an hour
after my lost file. I don't know where these files came from.

If anyone has any suggestions about how I might retrieve the lost
file or
how I could prevent it from happening in the first place, please
let me
know. It is pretty discouraging and I really don't want it to
happen
again! Incidentally, I don't use the B chord except when using
the block
commands menu so I know that that isn't the issue. I know that E
followed
by a space can cause a file to be closed so I try to be careful
although
today I was writing very quickly.

Thanks.

Kate
