Ottawa Canada Dear Hanna and list:
Welcome to the BrailleNote list. We discuss pretty much anything to do with Humanware products from the Maestro and Trekker, Victor Readers to the BrailleNote, VoiceNote, their OCR product and CCTV product My Reader. However the most frequently discussed products are the BrailleNote Classic, Mpower and VoiceNote, also the BrailleNote PK. Version 7.5 of KeySoft, the firmware that runs on the BrailleNote and VoiceNote family of products is due out sometime this month. It should offer a couple of new major features, one being SSL which many Internet providers will require to pickup and send e-mail as of September First and the other is R. F. B. and D. Audio Plus (digital) book listening with a User Authorization Key provided by R. F. B. and D. Where are you located? I'm in Ottawa, Ontario Canada about an hour's drive from Ogdensburg, NY. I read and write grade two Braille and have studied some Grade Three Braille but am not an expert in it. At this time I'm retired from the Government of Canada where I worked as a mainframe computer programmer with a PC that had JAWS for speech and a Braille display and embosser. This list has archives and if you read some of the archived messages, you'll get a feel for our general tone of the list and the sorts of things we talk about. Oh we also discuss the Brailliant Braille displays from time to time. Please let us know if you are in high school, college or working. Take care, hope to hear from you. If you just reply to this message, only I will receive your reply, so if you want your message to also go to the list, either do a reply all, often control plus the shift key pressed at the same time and the letter r.
