Hi there,
I use Witcom driver that comes with XP SP2. I've even used it with my Vista computer, but it does not work (it allows my ghrlNote to access my laptop, but not the other way around).
Cheers,
Joseph

Joseph, I did all this, with no luck. I made
sure that the mPower used the
ActiveSync service, and that my dongle was
"turned on" (in my case it's
plugged in). Can I just say that my mPower
doesn't always see the list of
services for my PC. The way around this, for
me at least, was to temporarily
tell ActiveSync to allow serial cable or
infrared connections, which you can
set from within the connection settings
dialogue box. Once it's found the
list of services, I then turn it off, and my
mPower remembers this until I
perform a 4-5-6 reset. You say your
Kensington dongle works without trouble.
Does this use the Windows XP SP2 drivers? If
so, then I may have to conclude
that Belkin's the culprit and consider buying
a new dongle, because I bet
even Belkin's own software won't allow this.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Chris,
Few questions about this:
* When you selected your computer from "List
of Bluetooth devices" page,
then at the prompt "List of Services" page,
did you select ActiveSync? It
is a good idea to select, it, as it ensures
that your computer would be
"fooled" to believe that you are going to
use ActiveSync service.
* You'll need to make sure that your
Bluetooth device is turned on (go to
System Tray, go to Bluetooth, and make sure
it says "Stop"; this means
that your adapter is on).
Yeah, someday I'll upload Bluetooth display
podcast on either Blind Cool
Tech or Blind Geek Zone (probably tomorrow).
I've found that my own Kensington Bluetooth
dongle works fine.
Cheers,
Joseph

The thing is though, I have discovered that
the serial port needs to be
"forced" open in order for Braille terminal
to even connect, never mind
work. Why? If I try to connect to the
Braille Terminal, via bluetooth this
is, without the com port being open in the
first place, I get the
following message on my mPower: "The serial
port is not available."
followed by: "The operation completed
successfully". The same is true for
the remote synthesizer, except I get a
different message: "The specified
network resource or device is no longer
available". Well I'm sorry, but
how can this be when no programmes I have
running are accessing the serial
port? And how come that if I open the serial
port, say, via Hyperterminal,
both Braille Terminal and Remote Synthesizer
will connect properly? I'm
beginning to wonder if there are
compatibility issues with my Belkin
adaptor and the Windows XP SP2 drivers,
causing the serial port to be
denied access, even though nothing's
accessing it. Hmm, strange. I should
also point out that if I use the serial port
option (I'm on about the
"real" serial port option), both Braille
Terminal and Remote Synthesizer
will connect properly. Thanks in advance
once again for the help.

On the same note, whenever you use the same
port on the computer and bn
for different things (active sync, visual
display, Braille terminal),
always make sure the other programs are
turned off before using one of
them. My active sync gets mad when I try to
use visual display, but it's
fine when I tell it to go away and stop
trying to connect.

HTH,
Nicole

Hi Chris,
Because Visual Display interferes with
Braille Terminal. You'll have to
turn Visual Display off before you can use
Braille Terminal. Speaking
of this, you'll have to restart JAWS while
BrailleNote is in Braille
Terminal in order for it to truly work.
Cheers,
Joseph

Subject: [Braillenote] Interesting finding
when attempting to use BrailleTerminal

Hi all,
I have looked further into my problem of not
being able to use Braille
Terminal via bluetooth on my laptop. I ran
Hyperterminal, and I could
successfully connect to the com port. When I
launch Braille terminal, I
still get a blank display at the mPower's
end, however when I press keys on
my mPower BT 32 garbage appears on the screen
of my laptop. However, when I
enable visual display via Bluetooth, which is
a cool feature I have to say,
the information is displayed correctly on my
laptop. Now can anyone help in
why this would be the case? I'm slightly
worried that my mPower BT 32's at
fault here. Thanks in advance for the help.
P.S. I'm using a Belkin
bluetooth adaptor which uses Windows XP SP2
drivers as its bluetooth
software.
