I would add that for those who don't like using computer braille, you could plug a USB QWERTY keyboard into your BN and write your text files using a QT style keyboard.

Subject: [Braillenote] RE: KS 7.5 Build 17 download temporarily suspended;Should I FallBack to KS 7.2 Build 47?

Ottawa Canada

Dear David, Maurice, Humanware People and list:

I'm not Maurice, but I can probably answer your question.

Yes, when a patch is released, it will be made available to
everyone whether they have already downloaded 7.5 build 17 or
not.

When will this be?

I don't know, but Maurice said they're working on exterminating
the bugs on a priority basis, so it will be as soon as they can
fix it and test everything to see if anything else broke in the
process. The patch will be made available to everyone at the
same time probably as a download.

Will this patch also fix the more pesky bugs in KS 7.2 Build 47?

If they can be exterminated quickly, without breaking anything
else, maybe. If not, hey we lived with the critters in 7.2 build
47 so we can live with them a while longer. They'll try to get
7.5 out of the door forthwith, as many people need SSL so they
can pick up and send their e-mail. It's a matter of priorities.

The doctor has to save the patient's life as first priority,
after they're feeling better, someone can take time to make the
scars go away.

In the meantime, I suppose your options are either live with the
7.5 build 17 you have upgraded to, bugs and all, or fallback to
KS 7.2 Build 47 which had no SSL etc.

To fallback, you would download the product key for KS 7.2 and
the nk.bin and boot loader for it and follow the installation
instructions religiously and exactly for that release.

If you need SSL and don't normally write e-mail as a Braille
document or back translate much from Braille into ink print, and
desperately require SSL you may wish to stay with 7.5.

If you love back translating and generally write e-mail as a
Braille document, then you may wish to fall-back to 7.2 build 47.

At least the back translation bugs were discovered before I
phoned Fed Ex to deliver two SD cards and a USB key to a friend
who didn't want to download the upgrade from the net herself.

Was going to ship Fed Ex International First, which would have
her local Fed Ex driver pounding upon her front door no later
than 8:30 AM Central Time the next morning. This service isn't
cheap, but it does let the recipient get her upgrade just as she
finishes her morning cup of tea, lets the guide dog out for its
morning park business and means she doesn't have to wait around
until 10:30 AM when regular Fed Ex Express shipments arrive. It
lets her go shopping, take the dog to the veterinarian and
generally get on with her day. And if she has to phone Humanware
Tech Support, she can call just as they open to avoid the queue
later in the day.

Also, people like to feel special and having your shipment land
upon your doorstep on or before 08:30 AM makes you feel important
instead of having to stay home until 7 PM when the UPS driver
finishes delivering.
