If you have a BRAILLENOTE BT you can connect to the computer and use the
BRAILLE-NOTE'S
keyboard but if you have a VOICENOTE BT like I do you can not.
I wish that they'd put BRAILLE-TERMINAL and KEYBOARD-IMMULATOR with the remote
synthesizer on my VOICENOTE.
Cause it would be a heck of a lot easier to use my VOICE-NOTE'S KEYBOARD then the regular
keyboard I'm probably more then likely going to have to learn how to use to work
window-eyes on my computer.
So believe me I get your frustration totally!

I absolutely agree with you about the QT models not getting the same
consideration as the BT models. With the BT model, you are able to use the
Braillenote to control your computer but you are not able to do this with
the QT model. If I want to give a presentation with a laptop and use my BN
so that I have the braille handy and simply use the BN's keyboard instead of
switching back to the computer, I cannot because I bought the QT model.
I wonder if the Voicenote (both or just the QT) are penalized in this way?

I have discovered that QT users cannot write in 8-dot computer braille so
they are forced to use the unicode tables when writing foreign languages.
At best, even with macros, this is very slow and inconvenient. The function
c command is itself hard to do--you have to curl your thumb underneath your
fingers and hope you middle finger lands on the c and not the x or you must
take your hands off the home row and place your thumb and finger on the
appropriate keys.
I was dissappointed when I read the 7.5 manual that there is nothing new for
QT users regarding writing foreign languages. I haven't upgraded yet
because I don't have my key and I don't want to start a project like that
over the weekend.
When I took Spanish and German in the days before the computer and the BN,
an ordinary manual typewriter was adapted a few of the keys were removed and
replaced with the accents and umlauts I needed.
It's only logical that there should be a way to map the keyboard of the BN,
too. I understand you can do that with standard Windows, but I've never
tried it.
The only other option would be to use external foreign language keyboards
with the BN. Are there such things available? Would they work with the BN?
I cannot understand why, when I'm in braille style mode, the a and the
semicolon don't produce dots 7 and 8 except when I'm assigning a symbol to a
unicode character--then dots 7 and 8 will work.
Sometimes I feel the QT models aren't given the same attention as BT models
and I don't think that's right. HumanWare should do something so QT users
aren't stuck using the unicode tables.
