You're right, it does indeed make one wonder just where the BN falls in the
HumanWare business plan these days. For my own purposes, I've taken to
using my BN for most editing/scheduling type things, and then I use a
Windows Mobile Pocket PC phone for those times when I want my device to do
more than the BN is capable of doing.  I did have a PAC Mate at one time;
and, although I didn't have any real problems with the unit, it was
certainly heavier in weight than my BNPK, and the KeySoft interface was
much easier to use than that of the PM--although I understand that the help
system on the PM is much more user friendly now than when I had my unit
awhile
back.

But, it is just so hard to know what the future of the BN will be. I still
can't help but think, as I've mentioned before and this article only helps
to convince me further, that HW would like to maybe move away from the BN,
if only we BN users would be inclined to do so and switch to the off the
shelf technology. Hopefully, though, HW would let us know, as they did with
the classic units, if/when they plan to stop issuing upgrades for the BN.
And, is there even a product/marketing manager at HW for the BN these days?
Or, maybe
the BN is just kind of sandwiched in among other Braille type products?

I wonder, though, where their idea of adapting commercial devices
will put the BN project, and how they will be different from FS
then? I like my BN exactly because it is so easy to use, not
based on a Windows platform look or anything. If I wanted that,
I would get a Braille Sense or Maestro.

Have a great day,
Alex
