Hi All,

Actually, as some of you on the Mobile Speak Smartphone list likely already
know, I've posted my question on that list, as well as I've posted my likely
reason for not being able to pair with the BN on that list. But, just for
info, or maybe so someone here can confirm my findings, I figured I would
post the important parts of those messages here as well.

So, here is the first message I sent to the MSS list:

Hi All,

Well, I'm back from vacation and trying to work more on getting my new
Smartphone set up and all.

So, I was wondering if anyone has had any luck with Bluetooth and pairing a
BrailleNote and the
HTC
S630? I've tried
pairing these two devices, but haven't had a bit of success, and am
wondering if it is even going to be possible to pair them in the end. I've
always been able to pair my Windows Mobile 5 Pocket PC devices with my BN,
but this is the first time I've tried a Windows Mobile 6 Standard Smartphone
device.

When I search for devices on the BNPK, or mPower, for that matter, the HTC
is indeed discovered. However, the only services shown are headset and
object exchange, and of course both are shown as being unsupported.
ActiveSync doesn't show up, nor does modem, and those are the two services I
would want to use, the former for the BN as a Braille display, and the
latter to use my phone as a modem for my BN.

Still further, I'm not able to create any type of com port on the HTC S630.
For, when I go into the Bluetooth devices menu, I do see a com port option,
and then I'm told to create a com port from the menu. And, in the com port
menu, I don't see anything about creating an incoming port, and the option
for creating the outgoing port isn't available to me, I'm guessing because I
don't have any devices actually paired with the phone. I did manage to fool
around and get the BN paired once, at least on the BN side; however, since
no services were showing as available to the BN, the HTC didn't recognize
the pairing.

Now, here is the second message I sent to the MSS list:

Hi All,

Well, for the moment, anyway, I'm about ready to give up on getting my HTC
S630 running Windows Mobile 6 Standard and my BrailleNote to pair via
Bluetooth. Still and all, though, I
would kind of like to understand why I can't get them to work together.

I guess I haven't really paid attention to all the different terminology
before, just played around with the appropriate settings and finally made
things work. But, when I couldn't get my BN and HTC to pair this time,
either for the Bluetooth modem, or for the BN to be used as a Braille
display, I started searching with Google to try and find some answers.

Anyway, finally to my question. Is it the removing of the Bluetooth dial-up
networking, and the replacing it with the internet sharing, that is causing
my
problems? And, if that is the case, looks as if I might have a problem
pairing my BN with any Windows Mobile 6 device, at least to use the phone as
a modem via Bluetooth. (Well, I did see some sort of hack for the Windows
Mobile Professional devices, but that kind of looked complicated to me.)
And, if I can't pair the device, at least with the
S630, anyway, then I can't establish any com ports on the phone to set up
the ActiveSync pairing for the Braille display, either.

Does anyone know if I'm on the right track in my thinking here? And, oh,
yes, although I
did see this info in several places, here is one place:
